Tata Docomo Launches Samsung Galaxy in India

Tata DOCOMO, the GSM brand of Tata Teleservices Limited and Samsung Mobile announced the launch of the first Android-powered Samsung mobile phone with in-built Google Mobile Services in India. Enter the Samsung Galaxy (I7500).

his powerful device will allow consumers to fully experience all mobile based Google applications on this phone. With its innovative features, Samsung Galaxy will offer a strong value proposition to discerning TATA DOCOMO customers.”

* 3G with HSDPA (not that we have it yet) EDGE/GPRS

* Access to Google Mobile services like Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Google Calendar, Google Talk and Android Market
* Integrated GPS with Google Maps that will include My Location, Google Latitude, Street View, local search and detailed route description
* Internal memory - 8GB and support for up to 32GB via memory cards
* A 5-megapixel camera
* Support for various multimedia codec formats
* The device itself is just 11mm in depth

GSM service will be offered together with it Japanese partner NTT DoCoMo ,who earlier secured license for offering the same from central government for 19 circles . The combined venture will be named Tata DoCoMo with DoCoMo having 26 % in shares in Tata Teleservices Limited.

As bundle offer Tata Docomo is offering 500MB/month of free internet usage for 6 months. Samsung Galaxy is priced Rs.28,990 which I think is very competitive.

Tata Indicom CDMA GSM network is already compatible with latest technologies like WiMax, 3G etc.
