After the leaked image of Jio DTH, the war between the two telecom giant in the country shifted from 4G services to DTH STBs. If believe on the recent rumor on the web, Reliance Jio is probably entering to DTH services very soon possibly by end of this month.
The DTH services provided by Reliance Jio is different as they are concentrating on Digital Content services to be provided, hence supporting DTH STB module.
Moreover, It's AirTel who is also planning to launch the same services as the Jio DTH.
AirTel is planning to use the high-tech hybrid DTH service which is said to work on the same fundamentals as like Jio DTH STB. Airtel will use the FTTH cabling service to connect the STBs.
These STB’s will allow us to stream content online through DTH.
The rumored Jio DTH STB services will be powered by Android where outdoor customer premise equipment (CPE) or optical fiber will be provided by Reliance Jio, which connect the STB at user's place via Jio tower.
On Digital Content services Airtel already partnering with digital content services provider Netflix. There are lot other services like Amazon Prime Video, Hotstar etc which may provide the Digital Content services through STB.
Reliance Jio has joined hand with HotStar to provide online Digital content services.
Still all these services are at rumor stage.
There is no confirm news for probable date of launch but it is sure the future for DTH STB are bright.
