Tata Sky Plea Against ESPN, Dispute on FIFA WorldCup HD Telecast

Tata Sky Plea Ignored By Delhi High Court!

Tata Sky’s move to obtain High Definition Feed of FIFA World Cup 2010 from the original broadcasting rights holder EPSN Star Sports was turned down by the Delhi High Court.

Dismissing the petition, the High Court made a statement that “Tata Sky is not yet ready to provide HD Channels as the company lacked the Infrastructure that is required.

Tata Sky raised the issue of ESPN providing HD Content of the channel to its Rival DTH operators for a specific amount of money. Tata Sky wanted the intervention of the Delhi High Court to lay out a notice to ESPN to change its HD providing service in per subscriber basis as laid out in the law books.

With the FIFA World Cup HD Feed, the DTH players like Sun Direct, Airtel DTH, Reliance Big TV and Dish TV are in talks with ESPN. These DTH players expect a 10 to 15% rise in the subscriber base with this service.
